4/3/2023 0 Comments Trackmania sunrise skinsTo those of you who've never heard of Trackmania Sunrise, the closest game that compares to it is San Francisco Rush but with a $#%^%$# wicked track editor. A huge hit in Europe, it failed to catch fire in the U.S., but with Trackmania Sunrise, the developer is planning to unleash upon the masses one of the finest arcade racing titles in the history of videogames, and trust me when I say that you need to keep your eyes on this one. But Nadeo's Trackmania just doesn't make any sense. Most of it is quirky Japanese titles that don't appeal to casual buyers, so at the very least, even though I think the game's spectacular, I can understand why X game didn't sell. Since this industry is dominated by the huge franchise games, I see a lot of cool stuff fall by the wayside. Never heard of this one? Well, you need to check this out because it's looking to be one of the best racing games yet. If your feeling lazy though its odds on that shortly after release you’ll never be short of community based downloads to add that extra life to the game. It’s not overly difficult either to get to grips with, with some respectable tracks able to be conjured up by complete novices. This has been incorporated into the thinking of Sunrise and while the original trackmania also had a track designer the one included into Sunrise features far more options. One of the major advantages with Trackmaina was the talented community that tirelessly created brand new tracks and skins for owners of Trackmania to use. Not so with Sunrise, so now races (and the environments) sound more realistic especially when being overtaken or power sliding around the tracks. The only real problem we had with the original was the rather annoying retro soundtrack that continually looped on menu screens and dull sound effects in game. Indeed our initial impression was that Sunrise actually played a little faster than the original.Īnd its not just the graphics which has had substantial improvements lavished onto it, the sound has also been extensively touched up. In 2005 with Trackmania Sunrise, Nadeo has certainly tried to push the attention on both looks and speed. When Trackmania first crashed onto the PC in 2003 Nadeo’s racer seemed to concentrate more on the hi-octane speed and unfortunately that had a detrimental effect on how it looked. Obviously the purpose for the single player game was to earn those valuable coppers that allowed the player to unlock track parts so they can create further tracks and car skins.Īs we mentioned earlier, the graphics have been improved radically and fit more in line with today’s high performing racers which is exactly what this franchise demanded. This problem has certainly been addressed with Sunrise, and the sense that you are actually driving in a real environment has been improved substantially. The original trackmania was certainly playable but some of the courses felt more like ‘arenas’ than tracks. The immediate good news we can report is that the single player side is as playable as the original Trackmania, not only that but the graphics have been improved tenfold allowing for far more believable courses. ![]() If you have ever played Scaletrix with its fast and incredibly daring loops you’ll be half way there into understanding how this game looks. Now just under two years later the fully featured sequel is about to screech onto the tracks, and believe us it’s looking every bit as good as they would have us believe. It allowed players throughout the world to organise matches online, race in tournaments and earn valuable ‘coppers’ which allowed the player to create even more tracks to organise tournament with. Trackmania is still probably one of the most addictive online racers out there.
